Towards this end, we introduced two architectural elements – a light-filled and heavily planted courtyard at the centre of the building which brings light and life into the once dark centre of the large span building. This becomes the focal point of the interior space. On the outer edge of the existing building, we introduced a veranda that becomes a buffer between the harsh environment of the outside and the very soothing atmosphere of the interior. The transition between inside and outside is softened and blurred, creating a more complementary relationship between building and landscape.
